The forthcoming visit of the pope to the UK is set to cost UK tax payers around £20 million. I wonder how many dialysis machines that would buy. I wonder how much suffering that would alleviate. I wonder how much shelter that could give the homeless? So, what can we expect for our money? None of the above, that’s for sure. At best we’re going to see an old man in a frock, rambling on about how evil the world is, we should all seek gods advice, and of course keep giving our hard earned money to the church roof appeal. Somehow it just doesn’t seem worth it.
Mr Popey B is set to do 2 “gigs”, on in Birmingham and one in Scotland. That’s £10 million for per session, in less than a weeks “work”. What sort of miracle can we expect from this visit? How about the miracle that we can spend so much money on something we don’t need, while the hungry stay hungry, the sick stay sick and the abused stay abused.
What a waste.
